Dear Friends,
We are here in beautiful Portugal today, ahead of my work at the University of Lisbon this coming week. I will be presenting a seminar on “Music and the Movies” on October 1, and a performance of my CHOPIN MEETS THE BEATLES program on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 (scroll down to see posters). We are honored to be here to engage with these wonderful people.
For this week’s MOMENT - "Achat Sha'alti" (One thing I ask) is the 2nd movement from composer Paul Schoenfield's Six Improvisation on Hassidic Melodies. I met the composer in 1985 when I had received a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Subsequently, I made the world premiere recording of this wonderful piano work (pamelahowland.com). Today we combine this with Wendell Myers's "Yellow Sky Over Distant Dark" (acrylic on panel 4" X 8" 2014 wendellmyers.com) https://youtu.be/QRKfLwK0etA
We wish you a wonderful new week,
Pam and Wendell
